From August 20, 2010 through August 22, 2010 officers from 25 county law enforcement agencies arrested 135 people for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs (VC23152/23153).
DUI Checkpoints will be conducted throughout San Diego. All traffic and patrol officers regularly scheduled for work will focus their efforts at stopping and arresting DUI drivers during their shifts. The heightened focus on DUI stops will continue through September 6, 2010.

Lindsay Lohan in Solitary Confinement for Wailing

It has been reported that Lindsay Lohan has been placed in solitary confinement after her wailing was keeping other inmates awake at night.

The actress has been receiving taunts during her stay at the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood and spends her nights crying.

Former inmate Cheryl Presser told the Sun: "Lindsay would lie there shivering all night, crying and covering her face with her hands.

"Her wailing was keeping everyone awake.

She had a hysterical fit, crying and yelling, so she got put in isolation."

Orange County Sheriff Official Charged with DUI

An Orange County Sheriff was charged with misdemeanor DUI when she rear-ended another car in Irvine. Police in Irvine arrested Lt. Erin Lorraine Guidice last month after she failed to stop behind a car parked at a red light. The driver of the other vehicle was not injured. Guidice was driving an unmarked Orange County Sheriff’s Department car at the time of the crime! The Orange County district attorney’s office filed charges Thursday.
Arresting officers said Guidice had slurred speech, bloodshot/watery eyes and failed her field sobriety tests! Doesn't it seem she would have invoked her right to counsel or do the FST's!
Her BAC is rumoured to have been 0.14, almost two times California's .08 legal limit.
Guidice was amazingly only transferred from her post as head of the Orange County Harbor Patrol to a position at the county's Theo Lacy Jail.
The penalty upon conviction could be as high as six (6) months in jail.

Actress Lori Petty is Arrested for Felony DUI

Actress Lori Petty, who starred in Point Break, Tank Girl and A League of Their Own, was arrested in Venice California on May 30, 2009 on felony drunk driving charges. Apparently, Petty hit a 14-year-old skateboarder at around 9:30 p.m. Although the skateboarder was treated for his injuries and released, Petty, was booked into the Van Nuys jail. She was later released on a $100,000 bail.

For purposes of this article and Section 34501.16, percent, byweight, of alcohol in a person's blood is based upon grams of alcoholper 100 milliliters of blood or grams of alcohol per 210 liters ofbreath. (d) It is unlawful for any person who has 0.04 percent or more, by weight, of alcohol in his or her blood to drive a commercial motorvehicle, as defined in Section 15210. Defensive Lineman To Face Reckless Driving Charge

SAN DIEGO -- San Diego Chargers defensive lineman Jamal Williams will not be charged with driving under the influence, 10News reported.
Williams will instead face reckless driving charges, according to the San Diego City Attorney's Office.
The city attorney said he doesn't believe he could prove Williams was driving under the influence.
The California Highway Patrol arrested Williams Feb. 1 on Highway 94 in the College Area.
Hours later he gave a blood sample at the CHP office, and his blood-alcohol level was determined to be .07 -- just under the legal limit for DUI.
Williams will be arraigned on the reckless driving charges next week.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (May 15) - Bruce Smith, who was inducted into the NFL's Hall of Fame in January, was arrested Friday morning after a police officer stopped him for speeding, Virginia Beach police said.
The NFL's all-time sacks leader was stopped at 1:42 a.m. on Interstate 264, according to police spokesman Jimmy Barnes. Smith was charged with speeding, refusal to take an alcohol test and driving under the influence.

Barnes could not determine whether a hearing date has been set, and it was not immediately clear whether the 45-year-old Smith had an attorney.Smith, who played for the Buffalo Bills and the Washington Redskins during an 18-year career, participated in 11 Pro Bowls and was a first-team All-Pro selection nine times. Smith played at Virginia Tech before being taken by the Bills as the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL draft in 1985. He is a native of Norfolk but now lives in Virginia Beach.
Barnes said an officer in a special DUI enforcement unit stopped Smith's vehicle. He said he didn't know how fast Smith was driving in the 55 mph zone, but it must have been less than 75 mph or he would have been charged with reckless driving instead.
He said the officer reported Smith's demeanor was positive even though he refused the breath test.
Smith has two previous DUI arrests but has not been convicted. A 1997 charge was dismissed, and he was acquitted in 2003.

PRIEST FIRED FOR BEATING DRUG ADDICTS Friday, May 29, 2009

BELGRADE (Reuters) - The Serbian Orthodox Church has dismissed a priest running a treatment center for drug addicts after videos showed patients being kicked and punched.
Bishop Artemije, in charge of the Rasko-Prizrenska diocese, said he ordered an inquiry into the activities of priest Branislav Peranovic at the Crna Reka center, about 300 kilometers (187 miles) southwest of the capital Belgrade.
"We will shut down the facility if the reports about beatings and violence persist," Artemije said in a statement.
The bishop said he decided against closing it "after numerous pleadings by the patients and their parents."
"We are also asking state authorities to investigate the matter and punish those responsible," the statement said.
Last week, the Holy Synod, the church's top body, asked Artemije to shut down the center that houses about 200 patients near the southwestern city of Novi Pazar.
Two separate videos made public by Belgrade's Vreme weekly and B92 TV showed one of the centre's employees and Peranovic repeatedly beating patients with a shovel, and kicking and hitting them inside a room decorated with icons.
The government's human rights watchdog Sasa Jankovic has filed criminal charges against the center and Peranovic.
This week Serbian health authorities said the Crna Reka center was not registered to undertake drug rehabilitation.
Peranovic told B92 TV the beatings were a "hard and unwanted, but necessary part of treatment."
He said that on admission, patients and their parents had to sign a written consent approving the use of violence "for therapeutic purposes."
